Spring is here...

Hey gang,

When you think of spring, you think of flowers. Here are some shots taken in Washington DC and Las Vegas. The Cherry Blossom tree originally from Japan lines the Jefferson Memorial in Washington DC. The last three are from a flower exhibit at the Bellagio Resort in Las Vegas. When I saw all of the color, the camera came right out. I hope you enjoy them. Welcome spring!!

Amazon.com: Don't Buy from Them!!

Please don't buy from Amazon.com. These morons sold me some photographic gear and then waited for two weeks to tell me they could not fulfill the order with no recourse or real apology from them. I would encourage everyone to buy your photography gear from anyone but Amazon.com. All these guys are is a money engine and couldn't care about any of thier customers. They are a bunch of morons...

Too Cute - Koala Bear Looking to Cool Off..

Hey Gang,

This was sent to me by my cousin from Australia. This was too good not to share even though the pictures are not that good, but the content is priceless...This Koala Bear was so hot, so after his little drink, he decided to just get in for a dip.

Deer "Blue Eye" Instead of Red Eye

Hey Gang,

I wanted to share an interesting feature about Deers that I discovered on accident. Deers are know for their large black button eyes but if you look closely, you will see a rectangular blue box which appears to be their pupil/iris reflection. We usually have red eye when the flash hits the back of our eye (retinal area). With these critters, it appears their eye pupil is rectangular in nature and the back of the eye casts a gorgeous blue color. I was close enough to these guys to throw fill flash on them which caused the blue color bounce back. I did not edit these in Photoshop in case anyone is wondering. BTW, look hard at the last picture....that is his tongue and not a photoshop effect...just lucky timing.

More Texas Wildlife

Here are a few shots from hiking in the woods in Texas. We encountered two fawns after thier mother had put them down for the night. They let us get close (200 ft) and the rest is the lens along with fill flash off of my 580ex II. The horse is from yesterday's salvo but what can I say, I like this guy....I have more of these two fawn's for later. Hope you enjoy.

Small things in Texas...

Hey gang,

A couple of quick shots from our Texas trip. First this beautiful orange butterfly with black offered some great contrast. After watching Mr. Ed eat for a little, he decided to look over at us using our 200mm 2.8, he made a good subject. Lastly, This little bird (no idea what it is) landed on a branch from a good distance. My eye caught the branch swaying after he landed, Swinging around with my 70-200 with x2 tele I captured his stare back at us.

Hope you enjoy.

Arizona Sauargo Sunset

Hey gang,

Here are a couple of shots from our famous western sunsets in Arizona. This was taken during "magic hour" about 10 miles north of Phoenix. I used different ISO and shutter speeds for the varying tones. I will post some more later. Hope you all enjoy.

More Mount Rushmore Shots...

Hey gang,

Here is a set of shots from our South Dakota shoot. These were shot with our 70-200mm 2.8L lens with a polarizer in the middle of the day. For anyone who has not been to Rapid City, SD; this is a must see place. It is so patriotic and moving. The National Park Service does an excellent job keeping the place accessible. This is truly a "National Treasure"....

Mount Rushmore HDR

Hey gang,

Here is a shot using HDR in Photomatix. This was a +-2stop composite and then using tonal compression to achieve the end result. Love the blue background offset by the grit of the Presidents. Those marks on thier faces are actually the drill marks when the site in the Black Hills of South Dakota was carved. Along with Rapid City, it is a must see place! I will post more later from that shoot.

Enjoy,
